Valentine’s Day is typically an event more for the women than for the men. But, that first Valentine’s Day after a divorce— can be tough for anyone. Earlier this month we did an article for the ladies, a ‘what to do for V day’. While it could be neutral, it was mostly meant for the women. But hey, you newly single men might need some direction as well. So, we’re here for you guys too. Following you will find a list of ways to manage your first Valentine’s day as a newly single man— because guys love love too, you know?

Valentine’s Day for Newly Single Men

Craft yourself a date with mama nature

If you’re an outdoorsy kind of guy, then plan a little backpacking trip on this lovely day— no pun intended. Getting out there and appreciating what the world has to offer you is a great way to kick those V day blues. Go kayaking, hiking, camping, take some other single buds, or check it out all by your lonesome. No matter your route, Valentine’s day is just as much about loving and nurturing yourself as it is other people. Do something you love.

Do something for your community

Feed someone else’s soul and belly today. Volunteering your time to your community is a great way to give back, and also pass the time for yourself. There are plenty of quality charities and organizations in every community. From homeless shelters, animal shelters, and battered women shelters— get on out there and do some good.

Go to a sporting event

Your favorite basketball team is playing today? Treat yourself to really good seats. If there’s one surefire way to forget about Valentine’s day as a newly single man— it’s to watch your favorite team win a big game from the sidelines. I couldn’t think of a better remedy if I tried.

If all else fails, set up a blind date

There are plenty of singles out there looking for someone to spoil them this evening. If you truly can’t stand to be alone today, you have quite a few options. Take someone out, spoil them— or let them spoil you if they so please, and have some fun! Being a newly single man is tough on Valentine’s Day, no matter what anyone says. You had your heart broken too, so find ways too mend it. Whether that’s out on the trail, in your community, at a Hornet’s game, or a local restaurant. Whatever your method, we wish you a wonderful evening!
